Read the first part  here.

Five new movies from my favorites list in which love story takes an unexpected turn, described in a sentence, without spoilers.

ETERNAL SUNSHINE OF THE SPOTLESS MIND

Anatomy of love from its very beginning to its end and beyond- no matter how hard it may be to fall in love, it’s incomparable to the exquisite pain caused by love’s end, falling out of love, being forgotten and forgetting.

P.S. „How happy is the blameless vestal’s lot! /The world forgetting, by the world forgot/ Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind!/ Each pray’r accepted, and each wish resign’d.“  Poem „Eloisa to Abelard“ by Alexander Pope, read in the film by Mary.

AN EDUCATION

Visually superb and with outstanding performances by, not just two leading actors, but the whole cast, it is a coming-of-age drama about a young girl mesmerized by french culture and disappointed in the normality of her life and about a charming man she met on a rainy London day who made her fall in love with him and forget that there is no shortcut to the life she wants and made her heart break for the first time.

P.S. This may be my favorite movie. Ever!

BEFORE SUNRISE

At the beginning, it seems like this is going to be a movie about a boy meeting girl, instant connection and attraction, their first adventure, their first kiss and it is, but… there is goodbye at the end and there is not much time and one conversation as intense, romantic and meaningful as a lifetime relationship in between.

P.S. There are two films that follow: Before Sunset and Before Midnight. Both worth watching.

HEARTBEATS (LES AMOURS IMAGINAIRES)

Laws of attraction are questioned and explored as is the friendship between Marie and Francis in the game of flirt and indifference when a young man with golden locks catches both of their pairs of eyes in this visually appealing art movie with an intriguing storyline.

P.S. XAVIER DOLAN and marshmallow rain. Enough said!

THE DANISH GIRL

A story about a man lost in the Scandinavian wilds who found himself in smudged mirrors and windows of Copenhagen and Paris, where his reflection became hers and about a woman who loved him so deeply and with such a compassion that went far beyond his gender and their marriage.

P.S. Like it’s made of millions of paintings, The Danish girl visually is a beautiful homage not just to the extraordinary lives, but to the exquisite work of Greda and Einar/Lili.
